Learning with the Lerts ('Be alert! The world need more Lerts.')
50 colourful little picture books providing multiple opportunities for young children to practise using different parts of speech and sentence forms (e.g. ‘wh’ questions, interrogative reversals, negative verbs and present/past/future verb tenses). The books provide a fun reason for children to practise grammatical forms repeatedly. Each book has three choices of text. Speech Pathologists can choose the text most suited to a particular client's needs.

Two a Day: Words to Teach to Young Australians
A handy guide for teachers, parents, grandparents, and speech pathologists looking for appropriate words to teach children to improve their vocabulary. Based on a study of the word knowledge of youngsters in Wollongong aged 2-18 years who had average-sized vocabularies, this 200-page book contains words suitable for teaching to toddlers, children and teenage students. Vocabulary-teaching experts believe that teaching 400 words per year (‘two a day’ in a school year) can have a significant impact on a childs’ vocabulary. Research has shown that teaching kids word meanings not only improves their vocabulary size, but also improves their ability to read.

These words have been chosen as suitable words for parents or speech pathologists to teach to children. Each list is accompanied by about 200 pictures which can be used in therapy and/or printed and given to parents to aid in explaining the meanings of words. Some of the pictures are photographs; some are drawings which have been taken from Open Clip Art (openclipart.org). Some use toys (the Lert Family) to illustrate action words.
